Mykah McLeod is a graduating senior this year at Westside High School. He moved to Florida from New York, but was born and raised in Georgetown, Guyana. He moved from living in Guyana with his mother to living in New York with his father for better opportunities and a better life. The reason for McLead moving into Florida with his aunt is because of ACS (child protective services) intervening after complications with his dad. McLead says “Since moving here from New York, my life has been better and I’ve turned 18 when I moved here and more opportunities have started to come.”

 

Q: What is your full name?

A: “Mykah Lee McLeod.”

Q: How old are you?

A: “18 years old.”

Q: Where are you from?

A: “I was born in Guyana, but I moved here from New York.

Q: Do you sometimes want to go back to New York?

A: “Yes, because my friends and family are there.”

Q: Do you play any sports?

A: “I play soccer, not for the school, though.”

Q: Do you have any sports that you watch on T.V that you wish you knew how to play?

A: “No because I believe anything that I put my mind to, I can achieve it.”

Q: Who did you move to New York with?

A: “I moved with my dad.”
