I have recently come across a current event in our nation today. Most news media are discussing the scandal with college admissions. It is no secret that wealth brings advantages whenever it comes to enrolling your kids to Ivy colleges, rich and famous parents can donate large sums of money to help with there child’s admission in these colleges. At Harvard University, an investigation found last year that “legacy,” the children and grandchildren of alumni, admits were over five times more likely to get in than the average person. This leads us to assume something more was done to get these children in.

Most of the schools targeted in this dilemma are highly selective; The University of Texas takes 4 in 10 applicants, and Yale just 7 percent. Yet the average U.S. college accepts only two out of the three applicants. This means that anybody just can’t attend these Ivy league colleges. Yet institutions say, they admit students based on merit.

There are hard working students who try their best to get into these top notch schools, but obviously are not given much of a chance because they don’t have parents that can buy their way in.  Tell us what you think and or how we could handle this controversy.
