You Should Never Feel Alone

In the end of January, I moved out of my parents house into an apartment with a room mate. Being new to a neighborhood you really don’t know a lot of people, but walking out to my car I pass by this little old lady who seems to have a hard time walking. I asked her how her day was and she goes on about how she has had a pretty crappy day, and expressed how me just asking her how her day was made her feel so much better because it shows that someone actually cares to listen. After the conversation I walk to my car thinking and realized Valentines day was approaching and knew she lived in her apartment alone (except for her dog) so me and my room mate collaborate and decide to make her a valentines day basket full of gifts like candles, candy, dog treats etc. Just this week in March I received a letter on my door that said how much she appreciated the gift and that in all the years she has been living there no one has ever done such a thing for her and that was the greatest feeling in the world to know that i made her smile even for just 5 minutes.
