5000 Role Model

The 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project was started by former Miami-Dade County School Board member Frederica S. Wilson, who is currently a member of Congress. The project was started in March 1993 after the school board realized that many young males’ lives were in constant crisis. In an effort to assist them, she established this program to benefit the neighborhood, develop the young men’s character, and provide them with opportunities that are dispersed across kindergarten through high school.
