Earbuds at school

Jordan Wheeler

Most teachers ban music while your in a classroom deeming it as a “distraction” and a “mind blocker”, but the question is, Does it actually distract you? Music is actually plenty beneficial to you while you are studying and working. It can

  • reduce anxiety,
  • blood pressure,
  •  improve sleep quality, mood, mental alertness, and memory.

All of these can relieve, and relax you. The music can ease you into the work and help you focus on your task. Some people cannot function like others. As someone with ADHD I struggle to stay on task and focus on the assignment. Music is a tool to help me focus and stay on task. Reducing anxiety can benefit people into relaxing enough to put their all into an assignment. Stress is a key part of our everyday life and reducing this even in the slightest amount could help so many people with the assignments they have. Music should not be banned in classrooms, in fact i believe it should be heavily encouraged!
