Foster Care

There are over 391,000 youth in foster care, and i’m one of them. I believe many people should be aware of this, so many foster kids feel invisible. I’ve been in foster care for 2 years now, and it’s been hard being seperated from my family. Foster kids a lot of the time end up feeling unheard, lonely, unloved, and just feel like like they don’t belong. Many foster kids i’ve met had these same feelings as me. For a very long time I didn’t want anyone to know I was a foster kid, because I wanted to feel “normal.” I have since grown from that mindset. We may have different challenges in life, but we still want and dream the same as any other kid.

I want all foster kids to know that they are loved and that they matter. They don’t hear that very often, and I think that needs to be changed.
