New Girl’s Soccer Coach

Ky'Nilah Farmer, New Girl's Soccer Coach

Everybody knows that when it comes to Westside High School we are not the best at sports. For example, the varsity football, girls soccer, and softball are about to end their season because people stop showing up. I’ve been playing soccer at Westside since 9th grade and Ms. Richmond has been the girls soccer coach for over 3 years now and she’s only it in for the money. Before I got kicked off the team she would say how if we don’t play 12 games she wouldn’t get paid, before games it seemed like she would pray on our downfall saying, “She doesn’t expect us to make it far or score just because the other team is good.” On Saturday, April 29th 2023 me and my mom went to Community Impact Day at Westside High School and I talked to the new teacher I believe in 208 and she said how she played soccer in college and she doesn’t mind coaching volleyball and soccer. She went on about how she knew some recruiters and can possibly help me with anything that involves soccer, which was amazing because since I’ve been at Westside and Ms. Richmond has not been helping me or anyone that I know of. Ms. Richmond never played soccer a day in her life and is coaching it. In my opinion, as a coach it is important to be honest, but at the same time you need to believe in your athletes and not just be in it for the money. I pray we get a new coach because I believe with a new coach that actually played soccer and can help some us get recruited is great for us because it shows you are actually rooting for your athletes and want them to do and be extraordinary. Until next week, I will talk about how I got kicked off the girl’s soccer team.
