If he travels to the island of Shinsekyo and obtain the Elixir of life and gives it to the shogun, then he’ll obtain freedom. Those who have ventured to Shinsekyo in search of the mythical Elixir, have never returned alive. Gabimaru decides to accept the offer with ten other death row convicts. In doing this dangerous journey, he hopes that he’ll be able to live happily with his wife.
